The Master of the Telecaster, Collins created a searing Texas guitar sound, mixing icy echo, razor-edged high notes and ultra-percussive attack. Musician Magazine called him “the most powerful blues guitar player in the world.” Guitar World said “His guitar cuts like a laser gun would carve ice cream.” He joined Alligator Records in 1978, cut six albums and earned every award in the blues world.
